Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立高雄應用科技大學 === 電機工程系 === 98 === In this thesis, a fully integrated X-band Voltage-Controlled-Oscillator (VCO) has been designed and fabricated using standard 0.18-μm RFCMOS technology. The VCO is applicable on 11.6GHz low power-consumed oscillator for 0.45V supply voltage. Firstly, this thesis introduces the theoretical and architecture of oscillator. Secondly, the major goal VCO design is low power. Therefore we focus on the low supply voltage as a starting point to propose and benchmark several kinds of circuitries to achieve the lowest supply voltage technology on LC VCO circuits. The oscillator chip is design, by using PMOS cross-coupled pair structure in this thesis. Then, the output buffer is chained to output power and waveform balance. The Agilent Advanced Design System (ADS) RF simulator is adopted to prevail the VCO integrated circuit design. According to the designed VCO circuit, the low supply voltage consideration and low power consumption are for VCO circuit optimization as the key performance indexes by tuning frequency range and phase noise. The VCO is implemented by TSMC 0.18μm RFCMOS manufacturing process technology applied by National Chip Implementation Center (CIC) and the measurement is done by Radio Frequency Technology Center (RFTC). The figure of merit (FOM) of the simulation results of 0.45V VCO is -192dBc/Hz. The VCO has no oscillation frequency. Because the medium_vt PMOS transistor may not be fabricated on the VCO chip.
