Additionally, investigate whether gender and parental bonding would influence alexithymia and the expression of chronic pain. Methods:Using chart review research method, chronic regional pain patients included total of 121 patients diagnosed with chronic regional pain from the outpatient department in a regional teaching hospital in southern Taiwan , fifty-eight chronic widespread pain patients were recruited , a total of 131 chronic pain controls were consecutively sampled from a regional hospital in southern Taiwan . All patients filled out demographic information sheet and informed consent. Results:Maternal overprotection tended to cause children to be neurotic (p<0.001) and more alexithymic (p<.001), develop further psychological problems (p<.001) ; chronic widespread pain patients were more likely to have psychological discomfort (p=.017). Conclusion:Maternal overprotection and adult children more alexithymic causing mental health showed significant relationship. Neuroticism and psychological factors were factors which effected chronic pain. Sex and level of education may also be related to alexithymia. For-Wey Lung 龍佛衛 2010 學位論文 ; thesis 58 zh-TW
