Although mobile phone is very convenient, but intensive or lengthy calls often cost a lot, so how to save mobile phone bill is often the subject of discussion.
In recent years, computer networking has made great progress. It also has great impact on the development of telecommunication. VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) is the product of the corporation between Internet and telecommunications.
Most of the VoIPs are still run on the personal computer, if they can be run on the mobile phone, it would be more convenient and valuable. We therefore implement a VoIP system on the mobile platform.
Our system consists of a private branch exchange, a WiFi access point and an Android smart phone. The mobile network can be WiFi or 3G. We developed a program which can switch between GSM and VoIP automatically depending on the availability of the network. If the network is available, the call will be carried out via network. Otherwise the call will be carried out via GSM. The switching is transparent to the user.
