Summary: | 碩士 === 弘光科技大學 === 化妝品科技研究所 === 98 === Eighty-eight kinds of commonly used essential oils were employed to investigate DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl) free radical scavenging ability, trolox equivalent antioxidant capacity, total phenolic contents and analysis of the major chemical compositions. DPPH free radical scavenging ability, trolox equivalent antioxidant capacity and total phenolic contents of clove is the best in these essential oils. 10 mg/mL of clove essential oil was shown 94.08 % of DPPH free radical scavenging ability and its EC50 is 87 μg/mL. Additionally, the highest trolox equivalent antioxidant capacity (78.89mmol of trolox/g) and total phenolic contents (4887 μg/g) was shown in clove essential oil. 87.32 % of eugenol in clove essential oil was analyzed by GC-MS. These results conclude that DPPH free radical scavenging ability and trolox equivalent antioxidant capacity of clove essential oil exhibit a positive correlation with the total phenolic contents. There was significantly of Metal chelating activity essential oil’s Department were Myrtaceae’s Blue gum eucalyptus and Zingiberaceae’s Cardamom. Reducing power was significantly of essential oil’s Department were Asteraceae’s Blue tansy and Yarrow.
