In the past, most of the researches show that sending tease-type stimulus brings negative effects on the interpersonal relationship. However, a small number of studies states that tease-type stimulus not certainly causes negative interpersonal effects. Summarizing the related literatures, the study argued the receiver’s "intentional per-ceptions" of why the sender presents the tease-type stimulus are the key determining positive or negative interpersonal result. Two experiments were conducted in this study. In the first experiment, a "scenario" variable ("tease-type" and "nontease-type" story) was manipulated. The results showed that tease-type story caused negative in-terpersonal effect and the perception of aggresive intention of receivers on communi-cator play the role as a mediator. In experiment 2, three variables were manipulated which were "communicator’s intention to present tease-type stimulus" (Vague, Joke, & Attack intention) , "Relationships" (Good friend & New friends), and "Self-esteem" (High & Low self-esteem). The results were as follows: First, "Communicator’s in-tention" had main effect. The interpersonal effect in "Joke intention" group was better than "vague intention" group, and much better than the "attack intention" group. Sec-ond, "Relationships" also had a main effect which showed better interpersonal effect in "Good friends" group than in "New friends" group. Third, these three variables also had three-way interaction effect. When tease-type stimulus sender is a new friend and with vague intention, the interpersonal effect in "High self-esteem" group will be bet-ter than "Low self-esteem" group. Overall, using tease-type stimulus caused negative interpersonal effect and the magnitude of negative interpersonal effect seems depend-ing on the receiver’s perception of intention on communicator. Finally, based on the research findings, suggestions about using and receiving tease-type stimulus and fu-ture researches are provided by the researcher.
