Summary: | 碩士 === 華梵大學 === 工業設計學系碩士班 === 98 === The calligraphic practice in East Asian cultural sphere has a long history. With the invention of writing and symbols, it has lasted at least five thousand years already. During the entire history of calligraphy, the politics, cultures, arts and daily lives in Sinosphere are all involved. And it has gradually become an appreciated aspect and unique symbol of Chinese culture. Xiong Bing Ming once said,〝Calligraphy is the pivot in Chinese culture.〞His statement clarifies the unique features of calligraphy, which is a most appropriate practicing art representing China. Closely observed, they can also see the philosophic, literatural and even, aesthetics trend in China history. As it descends, calligraphy in China has been influenced by the neighboring cultures as well. And it is getting more and more important in contemporary visual culture. Generally speaking, it is well influenced by Shodo of Japan, Seoye of Korea, Abstractionism, the writing style in mainland China and Postmodernism. Contemporary calligraphy outstrips tradition not only on the forms but also on the content. With the changing moods and manifestation, calligraphers reveal their characters and individuality. Contemporary calligraphy has intricatedly connected with modern arts. Inspired by these miscellaneous factors, I manege to analyze the style of modern calligraphy and reveal the artistic imagination which is different from tradition, and hope to provide a basis for creation and, more, development.
