Summary: | 碩士 === 輔仁大學 === 國際創業與經營管理學程碩士在職專班 === 98 === Have the thought that, why there’s nearly non senior computer user in the world ever occur to you? Why is the technology distribution throughout the age so unbalance? Even though seniors don’t need computers and internet to help them work more efficiently, but they definitely need computers and internet to make their life easier. Imagine how amazing it would be if seniors can also enjoy the brilliance of computer and internet. Video chat, receiving news and information, e-mails. They could accomplish all that with an 11 inch tablet computer on their hand. So what are the factors stopping seniors from making their life more convenient? First of all, it’s the computer itself; seniors have fear in learning or even thought of computer. Seniors automatically give up even before they started,
because there is no computer designed for them in the market. Manipulating computers require mouse and keyboard, it is awfully hard to expect seniors to learn how to type, plus, the computer now contains too many useless functions for seniors, to put in those useless functions, you need more powerful components. Why would you need something that you don’t need? More powerful components equal higher costs and higher price! The computer now is way too expensive for seniors; basically you are expecting a person who has fears
in learning how to use a computer to buy a very expensive one and a hard learning one. Tablet is a trend starting year 2010. But the interesting here behind is that, tablet
computer is not hard to produce. Many companies and factories in Taiwan and China are capable of producing a quality one. The advantage of a tablet computer is very obvious. The human, machine interface is relatively simpler. You can use your hand to touch the screen and manipulate it, therefore making this kind of computer perfect for seniors to adopt. Even though there is a great value created for the seniors in this senior tablet
computer, but it still hard to introduce a technological product to seniors. But actually the real hard thing is to let many seniors have a taste of how cool it is to interact with the display by touching the screen. Study shows that seniors are
actually not hard to adopt new technological ideas; they simply just need more reassurance about the benefits and reliability of the technology itself. This statement is the key to releasing the enormous potential of this segment of consumers.
Strategy:
So what is left to confirm is the realization. What ShoDer would do is to make use
of the tendency that seniors like to follow other seniors.
We will find out what is the direction of the action duplicating process, i.e. who
can be our leader in the senior tablet computer learning and purchasing group or
individual, and which group are next, and the later.
Brief strategy outline
• Penetrating point — Community college
• First mover advantage — Base on that, seniors are highly loyal and hard to
trust others.
• Lower the bars — Cut down price
• Not just sell, but service and teach
• Pull factor — Let seniors feel how amazing it is to integrate computer and Problem Proposition internet into their lives.
• Technology make all this possible — Tablet trend
• Strategically positioned as maximizing market acceptance
We are applying the simple logic. Change one man’s thought, then his/her action will change, and they can influence other people, so a change in action will occur in a group, forming a culture and lastly, the group’s thinking will change. OTPS’s entry point is community college, try to change the seniors who are most willing
to learn and active as well.
