Nevertheless, the international research found that shame and guilt in moral affective disposition may predict the marital violence. Furthermore, the attribution style of marital events relates to marital violence. This study investigated the association of male batterers’ moral effect and attribution style. moreover, it pinpoints how they act in marital violence process. The attribution measure of common life has been added to this study as well to compare the specification of attribution. Through the investigation of the factors on prediction and effect, the understanding in pathology of marital batterers shall be enriched. In this case, it is favorable for the assessment of intervention or therapy intervention; it also offers the further research orientation for references. This research has gathered 105 of marital violence group sample with the judgement of entering protection order, judiciary and violate protection order. There are 103 middle-aged male of control group as a sample in a community filled in the following questionnaires: Test of Self-Conscious Affect;TOSCA-3, Attributional style Questionnaire;ASQ, Relationship Attribution Measure;RAM, Conflict Tactics Scales;CTS2 and Marlowe- Crowne Social Desirability Scale Short Form C. The results of this study showed as following: 1. The shame of control group has significant positive relation with the marital violence after excluding the guilt. Besides, the shame of control group may predict the occurrence of marital violence. 2. The guilt of violence group has significant negative relation with the marital violence; it may predict the decrease of the marital violence as well. 3. The negative attribution of marital life events of control group has positive relation with marital violence; it may also predict the occurrence of marital violence. 4. The stable attribution of common life negative events of violence group has positive relation with the sexual coercion. 5. The violence group’s blameworthy attribution is significantly higher than that in control group. 6. The negative attribution of the violence group in marital life events is significantly higher than that in common life events. Furthermore, the violence group encountering marital conflict is more likely to adopt wife’s behavior as individual internal, partner internal and global dimension。 7. Shame in the control group may moderate the relationship between negative attribution in marital events and marital events. Higher negative attribution of marital life events lead higher marital violence behaviors. However, the individuals with low sense of shame in high negative attribution may decrease the marital violence behaviors. The result of the study supports that the self-consciousness and attribution style may predict the rise or the fall of the marital violence, but it can only be seen within some specific groups. The higher the guilt of the violence group is, the lower the marital violence behavior occurs. Whereas the higher the shame of control group and the negative attribution are, the higher the marital violence occurrence rate is. Besides, the shame may moderate the relationship between attribution style and the marital violence. In addition, the violence group has more blameworthy attribution than the control group does, and the violence group has dysfunctional attribution easily when facing marital life events.
The results of this study showed as following:
Furthermore, the violence group encountering marital conflict is more likely to adopt wife’s behavior as individual internal, partner internal and global dimension。
7. Shame in the control group may moderate the relationship between negative attribution in marital events and marital events. Higher negative attribution of marital life events lead higher marital violence behaviors.
