There are many studies indicating that enhanced AQP-3 expression facilitates skin wound healing by increasing cell migration and cell proliferation. In our study, we found that the treatment with the derivative of 18β-glycyrrhetinic acid (18beta-GA-d), is the bioactive compound of licorice which has been used in herbal medicine for skin eruptions including eczema, dermatitis, and cysts, induces AQP-3 expression in a dose- and time-dependent manner in skin fibroblasts and HaCaT cell. Furthermore, we found that 18beta-GA-d also facilitates cell proliferation and migration in a time- and dose-dependent manner in human skin fibroblasts and HaCaT cell. 18beta-GA-d also induced the phosphorylation of PI3K and AKT. Our results suggest that the 18beta-GA-d may be a new agent which treats skin or other diseases via the increase of AQP-3 expression. Chi-Feng Hung Yi-Ju Tsai 洪啟峯 蔡怡汝 2010 學位論文 ; thesis 90 zh-TW
