| Summary: | 碩士 === 輔仁大學 === 音樂研究所 === 98 === Guiseppe Verdi, one of the greatest composers of opera, not only composed a series of good operas, but also influenced posterity greatly. In 1862, he composed “La forza del destino” , which was a classic masterpiece in his second period of opera productions. And the overture of “La forza del destino” was even played frequently in many concerts. Nowadays, the overture is played much more frequently and gets more fame than the whole opera. It is because the overture contains many classic fragments and fills with the power and tension no matter in the speed, instrument arrangement, and expression. Though the overture lasts for eight minutes only, it is amazing and enthralling. It is not only full of drama, but also a challenge for conductors to interpret the opera.
The research focuses on the interpretation of the overture by analyzing the biography of Verdi, the background of the melody, and the content of the opera. And then we can understand more about the overture by analyzing the music. Finally we can establish the foundation of the interpretation for conductors in the future by presenting the process and the experience of this research.
