This study aims to explore how the financial and insurance system over the past decade in response to domestic and international financial changes and challenges. Furthermore, this study goes further to explore how the domestic financial industry seeks more opportunities and business growth in the new strategy by means of horizontal and vertical integration. This study adopts an in-depth case study method for gathering and analyzing data. This study draws on the concepts of “family business”, “financial holding companies” and “resource-based theory” to explore how Mingtai, founded in 1961, with almost 50 years history through sheer family insurance business, financial holding company''s subsidiaries, then become wholly owned by Japanese international insurance group of overseas subsidiaries. Furthermore, this study discusses how Mingtai in different forms of management develops its new strategy for sustainable development and pursues its opportunities for future growth and opportunities.
