Especially, the general knowledge of the risk management needs substantial change. As popularity of the electronic storage of the information and the digital information growth rates double in the most recent years, there are still many businesses that don’t securely retain their information technology (IT) information. As results, these companies have encountered information security problems as they fall behind the information digitalized pace. As the information technology advances, it has changed the methods of people’s communication, information management, retention, sharing and archives. These changes also have revolutionized impacts on the businesses. There are substantial amount of information that resides in the businesses environments these days. Even with the secure digital archiving, the solid retention system and security controls, it still can’t ensure that these electronic information can be retained for long terms. Therefore, it is imperative not only to retain the electronic information and provide easy accesses by using the traditional methods such as copies and archives but also to have a safer and automatic retention system and policies. With both strategies, it can create a safety net for businesses information security storage to avoid businesses operation interruptions.
The challenges that the businesses encounter include competitions, the changes of the economic conditions and the weather factors. In order to improve the businesses profit, it is important to fully utilize the information technology to realize the investment values and to invest the IT fundamental core technologies. It is also important to understand that the goals of the investment in the information technologies and the products are to improve the operation efficiencies, strengthen the capabilities to gain the competitive advantages as well as to increase the profit. Therefore, businesses need to have a well-thought plan to safely retain the operation core information.
