Then the 4-port optical circulators as a module were stacked to construct a multi-port optical circulator and Porro prisms were introduced for guiding signals between the modules. In order to show the validity of these designs, prototypes of 4-port and 6-port dynamic optical circulators were assembled and were tested by a 632.8 nm He-Ne laser. Their performances were also discussed. These designs except own an operation flexibility of being changeable in transmission direction. They also have advantages of a simple, symmetric, and compact structure, polarization independent, and polarization-mode dispersion resolved. The number of port can also be expanded easily.
