Summary: | 碩士 === 逢甲大學 === 交通工程與管理所 === 98 === During recent years, as the governments have been promoting Intelligent Transportation System(ITS)actively, the progress and breakthrough of related software/hardware techniques and the researches on communications protocols applicable throughout Taiwan have advanced on a new era, resulting in significant effectiveness on improving traffic jam, enhancing transport safety and reducing energy consumption. In the system structure of ITS, the Advanced Traffic Management System(ATMS)is the core and basis for ITS development. In this system, through the techniques such as detection, communications and control, the traffic situations acquired and detected by a traffic monitoring system will be sent to the Traffic Control Center. Then, the obtained information will be integrated, while traffic control strategies will be enacted and assessed, to perform holistic traffic management. Also, related traffic information, ex. travel time, can be sent to road users, so as to achieve the purposes such as transport safety, efficiency maximization, and more. Also, the basic data, ex. traffic flow magnitude, speed, occupation ratio, vehicle type, etc., can be collected via a vehicle detector, and then provided for the Traffic Control Center to deal with. It is the foundation and crucial key to the development of ATMS.
Accurate traffic data are required first, and then good traffic management can be achieved. If traffic data are not correct, it will be useless even though the facility is good. Although various types of vehicle detectors are available(ex. Loop Detectors, Ultrasonic Detectors, Microwave Rader Detectors, Infrared Detectors, Video Image Detectors, etc., which are all available at present)and technical developments make progress increasingly, however, field tests and assessments aimed at various kinds of vehicle detectors have not been performed in our country yet.
Therefore, in order to fully understand the current situations, the problems and the tendency of future development regarding the applications of vehicle detector techniques, this study was to undertake researches on tests, assessments, studies, and verifications aimed at the detection system techniques of vehicle detectors, to perform the requirement survey, function analysis, and field test procedures regrading the technique of vehicle detection system, for verifying and evaluating its performance, as well as the applicability of its applications domestically. Also, proper development strategies and developmental ideas were studied and drawn up, to provide traffic units with reference for procurement in the future. Thus, the infrastructure construction of traffic management systems can be implemented, to fully exert the function of the technique of advanced vehicle detection system.
