Therefore, if a dynamic download bandwidth can be determined without affecting the perceived listening quality, than we can use the limited bandwidth more efficiently. This paper aims to investigate whether and how sampling rate, amplitude distortion at different frequencies and roughness affect perceived sound quality of different music styles. The experimental results show that high sampling rate associates with high subjective music quality as expected, however, given a specific sampling rate, subjective music quality is difference for different music styles. In the aspect of amplitude distortion at different frequencies, the subjective music quality was influenced by different frequencies and distortion levels. When these distortions represented in roughness, the perceived music quality was higher with higher levels of roughness. In addition, this paper constructed predictive models different music styles that generate preferences in terms of music quality. Two types of model were developed. The first one used psychoacoustic parameters as objective measures for forecasting preferences of different music types. Its R square was above 0.876 with a p-value < 0.01. The other use roughness as an objective measure for forecasting preferences of different music styles- and its R square was above 0.766 with a p-value < 0.01.
