The major disasters due to climate abnormality are becoming more frequent than in previous years. When disasters happen continuously, governments around the world will pay more attention to and investigate their causes of occurrence. Most scholars and scientists ascribe the major causes of the disasters to the problem of global warming. Therefore, since the signing of the Kyoto Protocol in 1997, all its contracting states have carried out every possible solution and started working on various researches for their greenhouse gas emission reduction as agreed in the protocol, with the hope of trying to reducing the greenhouse gas emissions and slowing down the speed of global warming.
Under the multiple pressures concerning gradual exhaustion of energy resources, continuously soaring prices in raw materials, and the constraints on environment protection, energy saving, carbon reduction and other aspects, the architecture circle is also actively concerning about and promoting the “Green Building” policy. Therefore, through the “White Paper on Sustainability – Building Design & Construction”, the Construction and Planning Agency, Minister Of Interior has formally announced to fully and positively advance the “Green Building” policy and establish the “Green Building Label” system, and added the special chapter 17 on green buildings to the building design & construction section under the “Building Technical Regulations”, which has been gradually implemented since January 1, 2005. This again shows the government’s determination of positively engaging in the “Green Building” policy and its response to the goals of global energy saving and carbon reduction.
This study conducts a feasibility analysis on the renewal of the old building envelopes at the Sec. 4 & Sec. 5 Nanjing East Road in Taipei City, puts forward a feasible scheme on the envelope renewal and improvement in the perspective of sustainability, and works out a renewable recycling energy-saving building envelope system by application research, which can not only realize the goals of saving energy and reducing carbon and wastes, but also can improve the appearance of the street environment and reduce the occurrence of heat island effect. Thus, this paper will, from its perspectives of energy saving, carbon reduction and high-performance building, propose systematic structuke on the envelope renewal and renewable recycling, and to reduce the maintenance management costs to be used after the completion of the envelope renewal, in order to achieve the environmental protection goals of actually implementing energy saving and carbon reduction.
This contributions of this study are:
1. Establish a systemic structure of the renewal of building envelope :
Under the premise of no secondary damage is caused to the environment in the application of the envelope system formation, and based on the principle of retaining the original outer wall surface materials, after conducting repair and water proof treatments only for the outer wall’s degraded and polluted parts, make the wall into air-permeable multi-layer type. Modularize the units into the three types of grid sunshade unit systems of 1:1, 1:2 and 1:3 according to the opening proportions.
2. Design a ventilated multi-layer plates of roof system :
In RC flat roof construction, use ventilated multi-layer plates which are very convenient in construction and can realize better heat-shielding performance. The movable high-hung plate with an outer net size of 182 x 182cm (inner net size: 180 x 180cm) of each unit is undergone modular unit combination design.
