According to the CEPT’s statistical survey, the rate of senior citizens will rise to 14% in 2017, a display that there may be potential customers in the Assistive Device market. As the result, many enterprises have focused on the designs of Assistive Device. Patents can raise this product’s value and comprehend industrial information, but it has also become a legal liability. This study constructs the systemic innovation process in assisting enterprises to predominate patent information that avoid infringement and to make new products in accordance to valuable patterns of evolution in technological systems. The purpose of this study is to: (1) Use the Patent Analysis to determine market technology and patent circumvention; (2) Combine inventive principle and patent map to improve the efficiency of product designs; (3) Investigate the role of assistive device in different situations to support product design; (4) Analyze the evolution of products in technological systems via the TRIZ evolution trend theory to design a new product that runs smoothly with the patterns of evolution. This study is the first research to combine the patent analysis and TRIZ evolution trend theory and uses this systemic innovation process to assist enterprise in designing valuable assistive devices for the older generation.
