The participants were selected by randomly stratified sampling from the public elementary school teachers in Taichung City in 2009 year. Self-made “Questionnaire of Media Literacy and Teaching Effectiveness for Elementary School Teachers in Taichung City” was used to collect data in the study. A total of 443 teachers from 25 schools received the questionnaires and 415 were valid (return rate: 93.7%). The collected data were analyzed to test the hypothesis through the uses of descriptive statistics, the t-test, one-way ANOVA, and Pearson’s product-moment correlation. The major conclusions were listed as follows: 1. The media literacy of elementary school teachers in Taichung City reaches above average level. 2. The teaching effectiveness of elementary school teachers in Taichung City reaches above average level, too. 3. Significant difference is found in the media literacy by different age. 4. Significant differences are found among the variables by gender, positions and in-service education. 5.
