Summary: | 碩士 === 中華大學 === 科技管理學系(所) === 98 === This study examined the correlations among: Work Motive, Job Involvement, Job Satisfaction and Organizational Commitment, of police officers. The subjects of this study were the police officers of Taipei County Police Department; the scope of this study included all of the police stations in Taipei County districts. These police stations were classified into three levels (Strenuous, Heavier and Simple) based on “The Levels of Work Complexity in the Stations of Municipal Police Department”; the subjects were obtained via stratified sampling. A total of 553 questionnaires were distributed; the effective sample size was 377, and the effective retrieval rate was 68%. Cronbach’s α was applied in this study to examine the internal consistency of results across the measured items: Work Motive, Job Involvement, Job Satisfaction and Organizational Commitment. The reliability of the 4 scales was: 0.871, 0.796, 0.902 and 0.923, respectively, which are very good and conform to the recommended value of Nunnally and Berstein (1994), demonstrating high internal consistency and the good reliability of this study. The questions in the questionnaire were compiled from literature reviews and consolidated items developed by related researchers; therefore, the questionnaire should possess certain content validity. SPSS software was used in this study for the statistical analysis, and descriptive statistics was chosen to understand the basic background characteristics of the subjects after synthesizing the characteristics of the questionnaire data. Factor Analysis was used to understand the factors composing the variables and their respective reliability; T test and one-way ANOVA were used to analyze the variances among: Work Motive, Job involvement, Job Satisfaction and Organizational Commitment, of the police officers with different personal characteristics; lastly, Regression Analysis was used to validate the correlations among: Work Motive, Job Involvement, Job Satisfaction and Organizational Commitment.
The results of this study show that Work Motive, Job Involvement, Job Satisfaction and Organizational Commitment are significantly correlated. Subjects with the motive and willingness to work hard tend to be highly involved in regard to Job Involvement, Satisfaction and Organizational Commitment; subjects with a high degree of satisfaction concerning their work performance identify highly with the organization and are willing to work hard in their positions. In terms of the correlation between Job Involvement and Job Satisfaction, subjects with a high degree of job involvement are satisfied with both their working ability and environment. In terms of the correlation between Job Satisfaction and Organizational Commitment, subjects with a high degree of job satisfaction highly identify with the organization and are willing to work hard for the organization.
