Description
Summary:碩士 === 長庚大學 === 資訊管理學系 === 98 === With more and more use of passwords, password management becomes increasingly important. Scholars have found that users tend to exhibit bad password management behaviors, and the time of information security messages influences password intention and quality. This thesis attempts to apply the elaboration likelihood model to explore the influences of information security message time on elaboration likelihood, and the elaboration likelihood’s influences on password intention and quality. We conducted an experiment to guide participants to imagine the scenario of changing their passwords, and write down all thoughts. Next, we conducted a content analysis of their thoughts about password change. We found that the time of information security messages only influences convenience perception. In the group of three month, we found participants‘ convenience perception increased and password quality decreased, which can be explained with the time-inconsistent discounting of bounded rationality in economics. In addition, we also found the mediator role of password intention between elaboration likelihood and password quality, offering an empirical evidence for elaboration likelihood model and the theory of planned behavior.
