Summary: | 碩士 === 國立中正大學 === 勞工所 === 98 === Hospitals run around the clock with all the efforts from health care workers. Employees are the organization''s assets, hospitals should provide a good workplace atmosphere, a safe working environment, and balanced workplace-family life to keep valuable employees. Hospitals with healthy staffs offer better medical quality assurance for their patients.
The purpose of this research is to explore hospitals’ needs and the current situations of implementing EAPs, and the influences of staffs’ satisfaction toward EAPs over their organizational commitment. Twenty-five hospitals participated to the research and mailed questionnaires were applied to collect data from hospitals and their staffs. There were 365 questionnaires returned with the return rate of 83%. Following results were found based on the data analysis:
1. Hospitals with more than $400,000 annual expenditure for EAPs showed strong supports to
employees’ life and health related issues.
2. Female staffs perceived higher level of importance of EAPs than male ones, while male staffs are more satisfied of the practices of EAPs that female ones.
3. Nurses perceived higher level of importance of EAPS than physicians.
4. Less educated employees showed higher needs of EAPs than other groups and older employees showed higher organizational commitment than the younger employees.
5. Positive relationships were found between employees’ satisfaction toward EAPs and their organizational commitment.
The author recommends hospitals to promote the implementation of EAPs and offer assistance to staffs with special needs.
