碩士 === 國立中正大學 === 成人及繼續教育所 === 98 === The present study aims to investigate the relationships between social capital and social participation for older adults. Employing self-made questionnaire as research instrument, we focus on older adults, over sixty years old, who come from Chiayi City, as participants. Consequently, 420 usable samples are collected. After statistical analyses, the research findings are described as follows: a.Older adults demonstrate positive attitudes toward participating volunteer service. b.Older adults with high school educational levels appear to be more positive in social participation. c.Older adults with advantageous economic status and high education levels seem to have higher social capital. d.Social capital is significantly related to social participation; the former may highly predict the latter. Finally, some suggestions, based on conclusions, are proposed for educators and the related authorities for reference regarding designing relevant learning courses and policy enforcement.
