Summary: | 碩士 === 元智大學 === 資訊工程學系 === 97 === Ubiquitous Wireless Networking (UWN) is gradually being established with the expanding development of General Packet Radio Service/Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (GPRS/UMTS) and Wireless Local Area Network/Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WLAN/WiMAX). UWN is able to provide lower-cost and faster information transmission over mobile communication networks. Furthermore, with the development of the Web 2.0 interactive network, more and more people are using Web log (blog) services for various kinds of communications. Recently, interactive network technology is being developed in the form of the Mobile 2.0 concept, aimed at providing blog users with up to date, content-rich interactive multimedia communications. This is what we call Mobile Blog (MBlog). MBlog emphasizes current events with involved people, occurrences, and objects. Hence, an MBlog update notification possesses very high time-sensitivity. Obsolete update notifications are not only meaningless but waste the limited network resources of MBlog. Recently, Atom has been widely employed in the transmission of blog update notifications. It is noted that the use of Atom to send update notifications through a mobile network service is limited to the information transmission rate, which is not only time-consuming but also very costly. Therefore, Atom cannot be fully adapted to MBlog for efficient delivery of Blog update notifications. Focusing on this issue, we consider the low-cost, fast-transmission UWN service environment and applied the concept of Mobile 2.0 to design and build the Ubiquitous Atom (Uatom) in order to provide the capability of efficient, up-to-date update notifications to MBlog users.
