Finally, we expect each patient could conduct their daily activities independently and therefore improve their quality of life. Twenty–two patients who have been hospitalized for over three days with clear consciousness were selected. The patients were given eight weeks of rehabilitation exercise training, including muscle training of the lower and upper limbs, respiratory muscle training, breath exercise training, effective coughing up of phlegm. Furthermore, sitting-up, standing up and walking training were also given. Before and after the training, muscle power and Functional Independent Measure (FIM) assessment were measured for each patient to compare the difference. The descriptive statistics was used to summary the background information of patients, muscle power and daily activities functions. Nonparametric Wilcoxon signed rank test was applied to analyze pre-and-post rehabilitation muscle power and daily functions. Mann-Whitney test was used to assess whether the difference exist between the group with ventilator and without. The results show that after rehabilitation exercise training, there are significant improvements in muscle power and daily activities, but not in toileting and walking up the stairs. Progress can be detected in motor and cognitive functions, especially in the clothes dressing , social interaction and problem solving. As for the weaning ventilator , ten penitents (45.5 %) were successfully weaned, two (9.1 %) were converted to wearing a simple ventilator and could be cared at home.
