| Summary: | 碩士 === 雲林科技大學 === 設計運算研究所碩士班 === 97 === The paper reports on five-year study (2004-2008) of a colour combination support system. The study explored two principal design problems:
1. There are many books of color combination in current bookstores. Those books can provide suggestions of color combination to visual communication designers to do design activities. But many color sets often let they hardly to remember.
2. Most design projects must complete in short time. Designers often spend long time to search the color combination of color image.
The purpose of this paper is threefold. In the first place we build COLOR INDEX color book database. In the second place we seek to build rule-based inference method, including the main colour definition, the colour manner definition and color image words definition. In the third place we develop a color combination support system.
Participants were visual communication design designers of having more than five-year design experiences to follow Questionnaire method, Semi-structural Interviews method and Focus Group method. To build color combination support system to evaluate the reliability of those in-depth interviewing.
Based on the findings, we developed a color combination support system: Adobe Illustrator plug-in. The tool is based on Adobe Illustrator CS3, the programming language is javascript, and the color space is Mullsell system, and color harmony use Mullsell theory. The plug-in uses Adobe ExtendScript Toolkit 2 to develop and the database software is WampServer2.0. The tool owns the personal database, color book of Colour Index database, and rule-based inference database. Finally, we get the results that we can use color combination support system to improve designers’ activities efficiency.
