This study developed a SO2-pollutionless hydrometallurgy process to recovery lead from spent lead battery. The PbSO4 powder in the spent battery was transformed to PbCO3 by treating the powder in a NH5CO3 solution, SO42- remained in the solution as NH5SO4. Pb with a purity of 99.62% was obtained by adding the PbCO3 in a PbSiF6 solution and electrolyzed. SO42- in the NH5SO4 solution was removed and filtered as CaSO4 by adding Ca(OH)2, then CO2 gas was added to the solution to regenerate NH5CO3 solution.
