In order to keep constant developing and to strengthen its competition capability, enterprises have to attentively listen to the Voice of Customers and to grasp market demand. This has already become a quite important part in the product and service design process. The approach of “Quality Function Deployment” (QFD) can effectively relate manufacturing, development, technology, purchasing, marketing and quality control within the enterprise to the customers’ voice and their demand, letting the project engineering personnel be apt to quickly understand their mutual connection and rapidly grasp focal points.
It is one of government's future administrative focal points to have living standard development tactics in order to inhabit people in intelligent housing. In this study, the approach of “Design of Experiment” (DOE) was employed for the first time to replace the approach “Quality Function Deployment” (QFD). For the “DOE” approach, the housing developer firstly investigate factors affecting customer demand (or market demand) for the intelligent system in housing industry, and then by using these surveyed factors as quality characteristics and by utilizing “Analysis of Variance” (ANOVA), the developer will be able to more clearly to know how to more effectively to improve its building in intelligent systems so as to meet market demand of better service quality and thus better customer satisfaction in the area of intelligent systems that the company provided.
The study of this paper revealed that “The adding value being served" is considered as the most important factor among others in the perception of intelligent houses. The weight of importance of this factor is much more higher than that of any other selected factors, and this means that even very expensive equipment with high-degree automation is adopted, it is not necessary able to promote the living quality of the house unless “The adding value being served” is perceived. The optimum combination of intelligent systems in a new intelligent building project to fulfill the requirements of majority of new house buyers, according to the outcome of “DOE” estimate in this study, is the following: “Carrying instant image monitoring system far (including utilization of internet networks to supervise and watch)”, “The card system of non-contact-type reaction”, “The gas detecting system (for examining toxic gases such as coal gas, and carbon monoxide, etc.,)”, “The refrigerator independent outlet while losing electrical power”, and “Detecting and examining system of perceiving automatically (linking with community central monitoring system)”.
