This thesis presents a new efficiency improved methodology for both adaptor and notebook systems. The benefits include saving power costs for an end user, and giving designers some relief in order to meet E-Star’s requirements. Using a new adaptor, which supports adjustable output voltages, lowers its output voltages while the system is under light load, and can reduce the power consumption of the laptop. Lower DC-DC input voltage can result in higher efficiency but we will explore this further According to our measurement results, the proposed solution can save 2.1 watts of power, equal to a saving of 8.2% of system loading.
