Description
Summary:碩士 === 大同大學 === 資訊工程學系(所) === 97 === Nowadays, it is a Post-PC Era and computers exist everywhere. They penetrate to every aspect of our works and lives. However, the ubiquity of computers is not in the form of personal computers completely. For example, the belongings are a kind of computers such as mobile phones, remote controls, calculators, PDA, and electronic wands etc. In addition, as a part of family network in some electric equipment such as televisions, refrigerators and air conditioners are other forms of computer systems. The core of these equipments is computer system and they exist as the form of embedded system instead of concrete machines. Therefore, it can be said that computers are everywhere but most of them are invisible in Post-PC Era. In IT business, information appliance and mobile communication have grown rapidly. For instance, the high growth rate of PDA made it become the most popular product of developing hardware. However, the quantity of electricity is limited in PDA, thus, how to reduce the power consumption and lengthen the stand-by time of PDA have become the important issues. In addition, the widespread use of other hi-tech products and the consensus of eco-awareness and energy saving and carbon reduction have made people pay attention to the power consumption. Recently, the Dynamic Voltage Scaling with the greedy scheme or the proportional scheme is commonly used to reach the demand of saving energy. Nevertheless, there are several shortcomings in the greedy scheme and the proportional scheme. Hence, UHP (Used History-based Prediction) dynamic power management is proposed in this thesis and it can be used the way of prediction to modify the shortcomings in the greedy scheme and the proportional scheme. There are other researches adopted the same way, but they could not be applied to the hard real-time system. Therefore the UHP proposed in this thesis can not only mend the shortcomings of the greedy scheme and the proportional scheme but also assure that it would not be over the deadline to reach the demand of hard real-time system. The simulation results of the proposed UHP scheme show that it is obviously outstanding than traditional greedy scheme and proportional scheme. Thus, by applying the proposed scheme, it would get more effective ways of saving energy.
