The purposes of this study are: (1) to realize the current status of coaches’ leading behaviors and team cohesion among elementary school volleyball players in Taipei County; (2) to compare the differences within coaches’ leading behaviors and team cohesion among elementary school volleyball players in Taipei County by using selected variables; (3) to discuss the relative situation of coaches’ leading behaviors and team cohesion among elementary school volleyball players in Taipei County; and (4)to analyze the calculation of coaches’ leading behaviors and team cohesion among elementary school volleyball player in Taipei County
This study adopts the revised version of “Elementary School Volleyball Players in Taipei County for Coaches’ Leadership Behaviors and Team Coherence and Team Members’ Satisfaction” to survey. Items include: (1) personal information, (2) scales of elementary school volleyball players in Taipei County percept toward their coaches’ leading behaviors, within the scale includes 4 dimensions: coaches’ training and guiding behaviors, democratic behaviors, authoritarian behaviors, reward and caring behaviors; (3) scales of elementary school volleyball players’ team cohesion, which involves 3 dimensions: team cooperation, interpersonal affability, squad adaptability. The research targets are 150 elementary school volleyball players in Taipei County Among them, only 5 questionnaire is invalid, with the recruiting rate of 96.7 %. Data collected are processed by the description of statistical results, t-Test of independence, One-Way ANOVA, Scheffe’s meta-analysis, Pearson’s product-moment correlation coefficient, and multiple regression, etc. The major conclusions in this study are presented as follow:
(1) In terms of coaches’ leading behaviors, elementary school volleyball players in Taipei County show higher acceptance toward coaches’ democratic behaviors than authoritarian behaviors. On team cohesion, players with higher level of squad adaptability have the lowest scores on interpersonal fascination.
(2) Significant statistical differences within elementary school volleyball players’ perceptions toward their coaches’ leading behaviors have been observed under the control of such variables as years of practice, gender, how long they get along with the coach, and is the coach a graduator of department of physical education or not.
(3) In the dimension of team cohesion among elementary school volleyball players in Taipei County, statistical significances have been detected under the variables such as: gender and coaches’ gender
(4) Elementary school volleyball players’ perceptions toward coaches’ leading behaviors and team cohesion are positively related.
(5) Coaches’ leading behaviors can efficiently predict team cohesion
