SDC was influenced, since its very beginning in Taiwan, mainly through music videos, and the dances in the videos gradually shape the movement of today’s children, who have access to abundant information from many different sources such as internet, TV, gigs, events and concerts. Therefore the imitation of dance routines of idols and dancers has become one of the topics of mundane conversation between children. This may stimulates the growth of self‐confidence of them. The aim of this dissertation is to examine the experience of sixth‐grade students taking part in SDC classes, with specific reference to the physical and mental development of children. This research will also analyze the way the sixth-grade students reach the educational and cultural objectives through SDC. The research method is a qualitative case study. Both students and the teacher were interviewed to gain insights on the curriculum. The relationship between the participants was discussed. This research discovers that SDC presents rich educational and cultural significations. Not only do the children increase their self‐awareness and self‐understanding of their bodies, but also their inter‐personal skills are improved. The effects of SDC are ordinary and simple, nevertheless, truly important and often neglected by educational institutions. Hopefully this research brings new views to educators and helps more parents and children understand street dance and join the fun. Liao, Pao-Yi 廖抱一 2009 學位論文 ; thesis 116 zh-TW
