The leadership behaviors include team goal setting, training program design, skill training, team management, strategies practicing, and empathizing with players’ personal problems and concerns. These leadership behaviors related to coach’s personality traits influence deeply the team discipline, cohesion, performance. The purpose was that understanding how the personality traits affect the coach’s leadership behaviors. We interviewed the national archery manager of 2004 Athens Olympic Games, Chin-Lan Tang. The results showed (1) Tang’s personality traits trend to conscientiousness, extraversion, and agreeableness. She has high level committee for her job and values the quality, and pursues self-growth actively. She treats others with empathy, respect, and trust. (2) The team goal was clear. She stood her ground, made the decision and acted with self-belief. She leaded the team with these principles: the serious and clear team disciplines, impartiality, and personal example. (3) In the team management part, she adopted mix model of democratic and autocratic leadership. The leadership model directed players owned the self-management right and adhered to the team disciplines. She set the system of hierarchical responsibility increasing the team efficiency. In conclusions, (1) conscientiousness influenced Tang’s value of team discipline; (2) extraversion made her set the hierarchical responsibility system openly; and (3) agreeableness made her empathy with player s’ psychological needs in the high stress condition as she pursued high quality team performance.
