碩士 === 國立臺南藝術大學 === 古物維護研究所 === 97 === The research subject of this thesis is the ink painting “ The Man under the Pine Tree” by Sun Yun Sheng whom was the disciple of Master Chang Da Qian. This was a scenery painting from Sun donated to his friend as gift. However due to improper storage of the owner, there were blue stain on both the left and right upper corner on the painting. Therefore the stain needed to be removed in order to preserve the feature of this piece. Other than keeping another legacy of “Ta Feng Tang” to the future generation, it also enrich collection of special conservation cases. Before restoringin the piece, a solvent test was carried out to examine the blue stain. The purpose was to know the type of the blue stain if it were similar to the signature pen. Further information was then collected according to the memory of the collector (owner) with regards to the brand of ink used. From the analysis by thin layer/paper chromatography, different ink brand provides various level of colors which could be use as a reference to identify the brand of the stain.As a result, Better way which could dissolve the color stain was investigated. As nondestructive analysis could not be done to compare the actual signature’s ink brand due to the lack of technology and information, therefore this experiment was carried out using three of Taiwan’s 20 years’ old famous brand signatory pen and “refillable ink”. After that a mock-up test was run before the actual restoration. The result shown that the three type of ink were all water soluble, and different color were presented after removing part of the stain. From here it was decided which method to use for removing the non-water soluble stain. During restoration it was found the concentration of bleaching agent needed to be increased because paper and ink of the actual piece were different in age. Other than that the actual result were tally to the mock-up result. Finally, the blue stain was tested and analysed against the earlier presumed ink used, by using High Performance Liquid Chromatography. Through results, the pre-restoration mock-up test was evaluated and other possibilities research was also carried out.
