Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺南藝術大學 === 音像紀錄研究所 === 97 === Documentary, the most complicated medium for art, represents not only the inspiration from
the creators, but also the interaction between the interviewees and the or director. Because
of that, there is something should not be neglected. Exploring where the spirit-truth of the
creators comes from is somehow the most critical thought for the thesis. In addition, the
process for any kind of film making will be influenced by the subject of the works. However
documentary should not be positioned only to record the facts. In contrary, it lefts many
spaces to use creativeness beyond comparison with any other medium since people are
always lived them-self between reality and imagination.
The question of “why we always think about the truth when running through the reality and
ideality “is always confusing me. People rely on the reality which is made from their
memory as the real image. We definitely understand the features of the photography and we
make good use of them. In other words, shooting documentary would rather than counting
on the features. I couldn’t wonder that electronic record is destroyed with violence someday,
and we would suddenly find that people’s memory isn’t stored in human brains but kept by
the practical appliance instead. The camera is not the pure appliance for making films. The
new technology gradually manipulates all individuals’ mind and physical behavior. Finally,
we are unified into one of those appliances and to become a new generation of robot under
the circumstances.
When the existing method of representing the memory is dismissed from the right place, I,
as a creator, must think about how to make it re-alive, and how to summon the courage and
power which was also taken away by the memory back again as well. By lead, a man who is
an extra talent with his belief strongly occurs in front of me. His body acts purely and he is
like a performer who extremely demonstrates himself. He recovers my pain, recalls the
dismissed memory again when shooting him, and makes me escape from the dilemma
between the relationship of subject and object. I even could explore more possibilities and
capabilities from this limitation.
