Summary:碩士 === 臺北市立教育大學 === 教育行政與評鑑研究所學校行政碩士學位班 === 97 === The purpose of the study is to investigate the attitude of the teachers and administrators towards the teacher evaluation in elementary schools in Taoyaun County. Analysis and discussions are made based on the purpose, criteria, implementation process, results and application, difficulties and supporting measures, and overall opinions of the teacher evaluation. A questionnaire “The Survey of the Opinions of the Teachers and School Administrators on the Teacher Evaluation in Elementary Schools in Taoyuan County” was developed by the researcher as the instrument. Statistics including mean, frequency, percentage, t-test, and one-way ANOVA were adopted to analyze the collected data. The results are as follows: 1.The purpose of the teacher evaluation should be encouraging teacher professional development and rewarding excellent teachers instead of weeding out teachers. 2.The criteria of the teacher evaluation should focus mainly on the class management abilities, teaching techniques, and professional attitude of the teachers. 3.The representatives of the Teachers’ Association are the most preferable while the representatives of the Parents’ Association are the least preferable when it comes to the participants of the teacher evaluation planning and assessment. 4.Teacher self-evaluation is the most acceptable method of teacher evaluation while parent evaluation is the least acceptable one. 5.The teacher self-awareness checklist is the most preferable method of data collection whereas the parent checklist is the least preferable one. 6.The results of the teacher evaluation should be used as a basis to help teachers improve their teaching instead of a basis of annual performance assessment. Based on the research purpose and conclusions, specific recommendations are presented for the educational authorities and schools.
