The main purpose of this study was to understand the role of Taoyuan County public elementary school teachers’ perception, organization function, and participation union as the future reference.
The research method adopts the questionnaire survey with depth interview to collect data as the study tool is the questionnaire of "Taoyuan County public elementary school teachers’ perception, organization function, and participation union as the future reference". After expert completed the reliability and validity test of research tool, the questionnaire issued a number of 1400 copies with cluster sampling. And there are 1048 copies of valid questionnaires while the recycled ratio accounts for 74.86%. Within statistical analysis, the main conclusion is presented as follows:
1. There are 6 significant variables within the background of teacher’s role cognition,
such as gender, occupation, teacher membership, working experience, educational
background as well as school size.
2. There are 6 significant variables within the function of teacher’s union, such as
gender, occupation, teacher membership, working experience, educational
background as well as school size.
3. There are 4 significant variables within the perspective of teacher’s union, such as
gender, occupation, working experience as well as educational background.
4. Within the dimension of professional teacher and labor teacher, the cognitive role
of teacher has the positive correlation on the teacher union; within the dimension of
sacred teacher and the educational right, there is a significant negative correlation
between each other.
5. On the basis of the educational right as well as labor teacher, the perspective of
teacher union function for all dimensions is a more positive view.
6. According to the depth interview, the main result is presented as follows:
(1) The intention for female teachers participating in teachers’ union is higher than
that of male teachers.
(2) As for labor teacher, the supportive level of those never served as administrative
staff teachers is higher than that of those served as administrative staff teachers
(3) The intention of those teachers joining school teachers’ association are more
positive than that of the teachers who have never join school teachers’ association;
and they almost cognize the teacher’s role as profession.
(4) For those experienced teachers viewed as saint teachers, they almost don’t agree
that teachers can use the right for strike.
(5) Those teachers who graduated from normal college highly regard teacher’s role as
saint while other teachers with general university don’t agree with.
(6) Those teachers who serve in smaller elementary schools easily opt to
communicate with schools’ administrators; and they highly regard teacher’s role as
labor more than those teachers who serve in bigger-scale elementary schools.
