In a society like today, we see the fact that traditional value is no long valid. Thus, it becomes more and more difficult to tell right from wrong. Nowadays, it’s hard to tell something is definitely right or wrong. Some thing wrong can be truly right; while something right can be truly wrong. Thus, the line between right and wrong is blurred.
I’m very interested in the definition of “error”, and would like to know how we can truly judge one thing without being deceived. I want to know the real “truth” that was under the surface. I believe that in a complicated society like today, there must be something that is hidden from the public by people who are in power. I do think the process of writing this thesis has helped me in finding my own value. I hope my artworks will bring audiences a new way of seeing the “truth.” In this thesis, I tried to explore the various ideas of making judgment from different points of view, such as the definition of error, value and thoughts. Regarding my artwork creation, I used the artworks of Trans-avantgrarde as my references. In addition, the theory of Chinese poems writing has given me a great idea of how artworks should be created.
In artwork creating, I focused on four topics. Politics Deconstruction conveys my thoughts of politics in Taiwan. Perfectionism talks about the standardization of aesthetics.
Gossip looks into the influence of unclear ethical standards in our society. Materialism gives a deep thought of the fashion trend. I expect my artworks will help the audience to have a thorough thought of this society.
