A Study on the Motivations and Constraints of Bicycle Riding of Junior High School Students in Taipei City

碩士 === 臺北市立教育大學 === 體育學系體育碩士學位在職進修專班 === 97 === The purpose of this study is to survey the current situation of Taipei junior high school students who ride bicycles and whether differences in population statistic variables lead to differences in the motivation and constraints. This research uses a questionnaire with the main research target being students enrolled in public and private junior high schools in the Taipei region during the 2008 scholastic year. For this research, the scale form “The study on Motivation and Constraints of Junior High School Students in Taipei who ride Bicycles” was used, and 2759 valid samples were collected and analyzed using SPSS 12.0 statistical analysis software; the following conclusions were reached: 1. Motivations factors in this research can be categorized as one of the following: For health, Recreation, and Self-challenge; Constraints can be categorized as one of the following: Facility issues, safety, and objective factors. 2. The 7th graders choose “Self-challenge” as their motivation for riding bicycles than 8th graders; more students who ride with their teacher choose “Self-challenge” as their motivation than those who ride alone; more students who ride bicycles 3-4 times per week choose “Self-challenge” as their motivation than those who ride less than one time per week. 3. More students who ride bicycles less than one time per week choose “objective factors” as constraints than students who ride bicycles 4 times per week or everyday of the week.
