After conducting a series of studies since 1998, Emile Aarts & Stefano Marzano et al. proposed the term “Ambient Intelligence”, with a main concept in mind – “Design space to accommodate the human body and human feeling.” This study investigated the lighting setup for elderly people’s living room from a people-oriented view, together with the guidelines of Ambient Intelligence, such as Context aware, Personalized, Adaptive, and Anticipatory. Within the frame of these concepts, the important factors for lighting including visual perception, emotionality, and behavioral response were discussed. It started with background literatures reviewing to summarize the elderly people’s physiological needs regarding proper lighting in their living room. Further, in order to analyze their psychological needs, a survey was then conducted which was based on elderly people’s living room activities correlated with the five main variables in Ambient Intelligence. These results were provided to designers so they can set up a data base recording the needs and preferences of lighting for this certain age group, before they start their “Ambient Intelligence” lighting designs. Finally, a group meeting among lighting experts was held to determine the principles of lighting design which can implement the concepts and characteristics of Ambient Intelligence. These were the Ambient Intelligence lighting design principles proposed: 1.Living room design should be considered as “public space design.” A “neutral interior design” approach is mandatory. 2.Lightings and sensors should be implemented in an “imperceptible”, “fusing with environment” of way. 3.Lightings should be designed as brightness and colors adjustable. This utility is connected to central control panel through hard lines or wirelessly for easy access. This adjustable feature is functioned to cohering the lightings with the current “atmosphere” of the surroundings. The obtained conclusions from this study can also apply to other interior lighting designs. 陳文印 2009 學位論文 ; thesis 151 zh-TW |

碩士 === 國立臺北科技大學 === 創新設計研究所 === 97 === Human has always been thinking and researching on how to create a safe, comfortable and convenient living environment. After conducting a series of studies since 1998, Emile Aarts & Stefano Marzano et al. proposed the term “Ambient Intelligence”, with a main concept in mind – “Design space to accommodate the human body and human feeling.”
This study investigated the lighting setup for elderly people’s living room from a people-oriented view, together with the guidelines of Ambient Intelligence, such as Context aware, Personalized, Adaptive, and Anticipatory.
These were the Ambient Intelligence lighting design principles proposed:
1.Living room design should be considered as “public space design.” A “neutral
interior design” approach is mandatory.
