Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺北科技大學 === 創新設計研究所 === 97 === The research is concerned with Barrier-free environment on the city bus in Taipei. The goal of the research is to propose guidelines for designing the safety equipments, based on the principle of the "Universal Design", to meet the needs of standing passengers. The research first observes the habits of passengers using the existing equipments on the city bus in Taipei, then makes a survey of the sizes, numbers and locations of the equipments, and then applies the focus group method. It is clear that the main problem is caused by the inadequate design that cannot meet the needs of passengers in different statures. By means of questionnaire and experimental approach, the research shows that passengers of specific height can use only specific equipments. The results of the experiment offer the basic reference data for the appropriate design of these safety equipments. Some recommendations are made as follows according to the outcomes of the research: 1. The standing support equipments should have two sets of different height to meet the passengers'' needs. 2. The number of handrails should be increased and handholds should be installed near handrails and stanchions. 3. The number of lower position equipments should be larger than that of higher ones. 4. The forms of the equipments should be modified for the passengers to grip in their natural postures. 5. The stability of handholds should be enhanced.
