An admission control mechanism can prevent web sites from becoming overloaded by rejecting some requests and thereby maintains an acceptable response time. In this thesis, we implement an Apache module with admission control and develop a performance analysis tool. The control parameters are set by the analytic results from our tool. Measurements from multi-tier web application show that the module and control strategies can avoid web sites overload occurred.
