WiMAX is an emerging wireless broadband communication service. Equipped with mobility, wide coverage, and high data rate, WiMAX may complement or replace other competing communication systems such as 3G, 4G and wireless local area networks. Integrating H.264 with WiMAX is thus an important issue for the development of mobile wireless broadband networks. In this thesis, H.264 error resilience and error concealment tools are considered to combat the possible packet losses. We also incorporate the WiMAX QoS support to improve the visual quality. Because the experiments are conducted on WiMAX emulation systems, the suggested coding options obtained in this thesis can be applied to the real WiMAX networks.
