Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺北科技大學 === 光電工程系研究所 === 97 === In this paper, we investigate the pulse dynamics in a mode-locked ytterbium-doped fiber laser (YDFL) by the pulse-shaping based on nonlinear polarization evolution (NPE). By changing the orientation of the polarization controller or adjusting the pump power, Q-switched mode-locking (QML), continuous-wave mode-locking (CW-ML), or pulse splitting can be achieved in the passively mode-locked fiber laser with a unidirectional ring cavity. On the other hand, when a semiconductor saturable absorber (SESAM) is inserted in the laser cavity, harmonic mode-locking (HML) pulse can be obtained to generate higher repetition rate pulses by changing the pump power or rotating the polarization controller. We have obtained a versatile tunable in ytterbium-doped fiber laser operation in normal group velocity dispersion (GVD) region.
