Summary: | 碩士 === 東海大學 === 建築學系 === 97 === Otaku
With the explosive growth of cyberspace, the rapidly expanding group of Otaku has become a city subculture society that can’t be ignored. They live in a high-density area of the real urban space, but their human interactions with others are extreme alienated.
They are obsessed about pleasure sensations (MOE) and wandering in between the virtual and real world. They like to gather together with people who have the same interests (DOUJIN) and form an enthusiast community.
New Kwanghua Market area
The group of Otaku was born in the city, but the city has not developed the corresponding space. Take the new Kuanghua Market and its surrounding region where the Otaku in the Taipei City most frequently saunter as an example, after the old popular place for Otaku, Kwanghua Market (1973-2006), located under the Kuanghua bridge, was demolished by the city government, a new Taipei IT building known as Taipei Akihabara was built next to the old site. However, because it is not appropriate to echo the base structure and the user group's characteristics of thinking, the new Kwanghua Market has become another old-fashioned sublease market building.
MoExhibitA
The new building should reflect the change of city life brought by the Internet, combined with creativity research and development, product release, and circulation sales. It also should connect with traffic infrastructure in the site context and form a new urban hub of the city. The intention of the MoExhibitA design starts from exploring the characteristics of Otaku. Based on the Otaku's sensory experience at the time they switch between the virtual and real world and the DOUJIN's social mechanism, a high-density urban space with compound functions for both Otaku and Non-Otaku is developed. MoExhibitA, located in the New Kwanghua Market area, is a statement for Otaku to step in the urban space, an incubator of DOUJIN's creation, and a mobility Exhibit of urban crowd, objects, and information.
