Coastal and other open areas have a different visual landscape than others lending them certain special elements. In light of this relevant theory it is the purpose of this study to comprehend the effect of open coast on recreational activities, motivation and behavior, as well as to engage in open discussion the psychological effectiveness of these activities. In this study, purposive sampling methods were used to conduct visits with tourists. The resulting 396 valid questionnaires were then analyzed through SPSS12.0 data analysis. Research results showed that greatest motirations of respondents for choosing coastal areas of tourism were to enjoy the best natural landscape, to avoid heavy day-to-day work, relax and reduce stress as well as to engage in land-based activities while appreciating the landscape. Most of the coast produce positive psychological benefits. Furthermore, coastal recreational activities are easily generated which in turn reduces the length of time needed for psychological recovery. Therefore, according to Recreational Marine expectations, in order to produce positive psychological effects in the future, recreational activities should promote the development of the aforementioned coastal regions. 湯幸芬 2009 學位論文 ; thesis 55 zh-TW
