Summary:碩士 === 慈濟大學 === 醫學生物技術研究所 === 97 === Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disease and the common cause of dementia among older people. AD is characterized pathologically by the deposition of extracellular senile plaques and intracellular neurofibrillary tangles. The aggregation of Aβ1-42 has been shown to induce lipid peroxidation, protein oxidation, neurotoxicity, and reactive oxygen species generation in neurons. Screened twenty Chinese herb medicines and tested their effect on anti-Aβ induced neurotoxicity. Among them, Fructus Aurantii Immaturus (枳實) showed protect against Aβ1-42-induced neurotoxicity in culture PC-12 cells. Further analysis only Fructus Aurantii Immaturus (枳實) plant duded extract showed that Fructus Aurantii Immaturus (枳實) does not inhibit either aggregation or free radical induced by Aβ1-42, instead it promotes the growth of PC-12 cells.
