Summary: | 碩士 === 南台科技大學 === 電機工程系 === 97 === To a patient who can not move their body but have a clear conscious, it is a big help to them if they will use their eyeball movement to communicate their thoughts. An assistive system which can detect the direction of where people are gazing called eye control. Besides that, the computer operation is not user-friendly for the disabled, eye control system provide help for them to communicate to the world. Current eye control systems use infrared camera to track the eyeball. Since these equipments are expensive, the disabled can not afford to have one of their own. Moreover, there are some concerns with the safety of infrared.
The purpose of this research is to implement a low cost eye control system by using LabVIEW to be the developed software, using a color image instead of an infrared image and replacing the infrared camera with a web camera. Image processing and Projection Function method will be used to find the pupils center. By mapping the center coordinate to the screens coordinate, mouse control can be achieved. Then we produce such application as mouse control.
The experimental results show an accuracy of 91% for the pupil center tracking, 93.33% for the mouse click simulation and 71% for the whole system, which is an indication that the application developed performs well. In conclusion, we have successfully designed a low-cost assistive device for the disabled without wearing appurtenance.
