Taipei has always been a city of political and economic development in Taiwan, since 1895. From the railroad built in Ching Dynasty, to the enlargement of Taipei Train Station in 1981, the downgrade of business park after MRT completed, and gone through 8 years of business park construction from 2001. There will be some developing cases about special area in Taipei Station, and the MRT of airport that 5 kinds of transits will be opened. Taipei old blocks and residents play an essential role in tourism development.
There are few studies about tourism development of Taipei City, residents’ dictation and the history of Taipei City would be studied therefore, and to discover the restrictions of tourism development in old blocks and the cause of problems.
Interview and content analysis were conducted in the study; there are six periods of tourism development in Taipei City, 1875~1895 Ching Dynasty, the initial stage of tourism that city established; 1895~1945 the colonization by Japan, ruler and entertaining consumption came first; 1945~1960 Taiwan restoration, political and economic developed, that commercial tourism was the top priority; 1960~1990 Chonghua market opened, economic growth that the night tourism got flourished; 1990~2001 the eastern part prospered, the western part decayed, that culture tourism appeared; 2000~2008 business park renovating development, and turned to historical tourism.
The conclusion of the study talks over the type of city tourism in old blocks, distribution, and the cycle changed, and seeks to provide proposal to authorities for future development.
