This study aims at understanding the factors that social workers would consider when assess whether the risk exists or not; and at trying to analyze the meanings of factors, as well as the difficulty the social workers have when making decisions.
The data of this study was collected by interviewing 7 social workers and 2 supervisors who are responsible for high-risk family service. The findings of this study are as the followings:
A.High-risk family factors are the core considerations in risk assessment.
B.Social workers are the most powerful person of making decision.
C.Resource factors are the key points when making decision.
D.Program model is a selective evaluation factor for social workers.
E.Social workers discuss their assessment with their supervisors.
It also finds that social workers would consult with not only their colleagues but also supervisors first, and then they would adopt the evaluation reference when they are confused though they think the evaluation reference materials is not suitable. Social workers would evaluate the risk level of family by considering the internal change of high-risk family and the limitations of program model.
