Summary: | 碩士 === 實踐大學 === 企業管理學系碩士班 === 97 === Founded in 1977, Delta Electronics has been lasting for 38 years. Many employees contributed the best of their lives to Delta Electronics in order to make the company growing healthily on the international stage. As an organization grows to a certain degree, the operative functions of its headquarter becomes crucial. Starting from the establishment of the factories overseas, Delta’s headquarters continuously integrated and controlled the operations between the overseas factories and headquarters by the central planning in response to the rapid environmental changes. With comprehensive literature reviews and in-depth interviews with several seniors in Delta, this research divides the international development process of Delta Electronics into three phases: the initial, the growing, and matured periods respectively. Conclusions of this research are listed as below:
1. Delta Electronics designs the organizational divisions by products. They use profit center system and make each business unit responsible for their own profit and loss.
2. In response to the change of environment, Delta’s headquarters adjusts its integration and control mechanism, so the company may response to the environmental changes faster and smoother.
3. Introducing IT design and development is necessary for the company growth. When Delta had branches all around the world, the company needed a reliable information sharing system to enable the decision makers to get information quickly.
4. Delta designated Thailand division as the major product provider for European customers. In China, they have plants located at Tianjin (North China), Wuhu (Central China), Wujiang (East China), and Dongguan (South China) respectively to produce products for customers nearby and mostly in Asian. The factory in Mexico is mainly for the customers in North American. Each business group is allowed to enter every factory and set up its own production line according to their strategies.
To cope with the growth of the company, Delta Electronics headquarters keeps on thinking about and changing its organization structure and its functional authority so that every business group can fully utilize its strength. The factories are responsible for the production and compete with each other. Each business group takes most profit and loss responsibility. In the end, the company headquarters only supervises the functions of finance, new products R&D, investment and investor relations, legal affairs, IT, company purchasing, human resources, and automation engineering. Purpose of the organizational design is to make the company operations more flexible. Also, the headquarter focuses more on the resources allocation for future potential development of the company.
